Deputy Chief Hardin is a 26-year veteran as a deputy Sheriff and has held several significant post during his impressive career. Chief Hardin explained the difference between the James City Police Department and that of the Williamsburg Sheriff's office. The primary difference being the Williamsburg Sheriff's Office is not responsible for law enforcement. They are dedicated to the safety of the Williamsburg Courts and the processing of legal documents, in fact the four deputies that process the serving branch of the sheriff's office accumulate 100,000 miles a year.
