The Eastern Virginia Brass Trio presents a concert of varied and exciting brass chamber music on the Mildred McDaniel Concert series, Sunday March 6, 4 p.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church in Newport News.

The ensemble will play the important standards in the repertoire such as Philharmonic Fanfare by Eric Ewazen and Arthur Frackenpohl's multi-movement Brass Trio. However, adventurous, thoughtful and strangely humorous is Trio for Brass by Canadian composer Ian McDougall. This work includes movements titled Fanfare, Blues-fight in the F Chorale and Scherzophrenia! There are also a few toe-tapping works inspired by the big band and ragtime eras.

Musicians of the Eastern Virginia Brass Trio are Lawrence Clemens, trumpet; Marlene Ford, horn and Robert Ford, trombone.

Presented with the assistance of the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, this one hour program is fine for all age audiences. The Trio is delighted to introduce each selection and chat with audiences at the conclusion.
