A Community Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Upper James City County Ministerium, a collaboration of eight area churches, will take place Sunday, 20 November, 4:00 p.m., at St Olaf Catholic Church (104 Norge Lane, in Norge). The event will kick off Thanksgiving week with prayer, music, thanks, and praise, including a mass choir anthem. Refreshments will follow the service. Participating churches include Hickory Neck Episcopal Church, Mt Vernon United Methodist Church, New Zion Baptist Church, Olive Branch Christian Church, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, St Olaf Catholic Church, Stone House Presbyterian Church, and Williamsburg Mennonite Church. The Ministerium has shared worship services, outreach ministry in the community, and fellowship since 2014.
St Olaf reminds members and visitors there is always need for canned goods for the St Olaf Food Pantry, and a Thanksgiving event is a great time to fight hunger in our community. In addition, a freewill offering during the service will benefit Williamsburg House of Mercy, a local nonprofit addressing homelessness, hunger, transportation, and emergency assistance. All are welcome to join in this joyous Thanksgiving service! Contact St Olaf church office for more information: 757.564.3819.
