Education for Ministry (EfM) at Grace Church, Yorktown

EfM (Education for Ministry) at Grace Church, Yorktown, is forming groups for 2017-18 that will begin meeting in September. Our preliminary informational meeting is planned for July 25th, at the Grace Parish House, Church Street in Yorktown beginning at 6 p.m. Contacts are group mentors: Melinda Reed (757-890-2229) and John Hoppe (757-229-5113). You may also obtain additional program information and learn how you may join us by calling the church office (757-898-3261).

In brief, EfM offers a progressive four year program of study and discussion in a small, mentored group setting. Group members study scripture (Old and New Testaments), Christian church history, and present day theological thinking. A core element of the program is the "Theological Reflection." This "TR" encourages participants to connect biblical and theological knowledge with everyday issues of contemporary life, thereby ultimately enhancing life in the Christian context. Cost of the books and materials used for the program are included in registration fee.

This program is open to any person seeking to study further the Bible and related documents, theology, Christian church history, and ethics. The mentored small group context continues to be authorized and supported by the School of Theology at Sewanee, TN.
