Elizabeth Ameling's Latisha's House Foundation provides a shelter for girls on the streets

A recent speaker at a weekly meeting of the James City County Rotary Club was Elizabeth Ameling from The Latisha's House Foundation. Latisha's House provides residential housing for women who are victims of human sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. This is an area that was highlighted at the Rotary international convention and a focus for Rotary activity worldwide.

Ms. Ameling was a candidate for the Daily Press citizen of the year in 2016, and has devoted years to this cause. Latisha was the first girl she helped pick up off the street in Chicago. Her refuge here opened in 2014, and is located in James City County.
