FAMILY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ON BULLYING

From Monday, Aug 8 through Friday, Aug 12, the 3 local Episcopal Churches (Bruton Parish, Hickory Neck and St. Martin's) are offering a joint Vacation Bible School. THE GREAT PROTECTOR VBS is for children age 3 through rising 5th graders and is being held at St. Martin's, 1333 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg. The theme focuses on Bullying, from both aspects--being a bully and being bullied. The program will be held in the evenings from 5:30pm to 8pm (to include parents) and begins with a simple dinner for all (no charge). After dinner all listen to the daily Bible story and learn the VBS theme song. The children are dismissed to classes that focus on the Bible story to learn how the Biblical characters responded to bullying. Meanwhile parents have an opportunity to hear a different talk each evening given by professionals, experts in the subject of bullying. Topics will include positive parenting, bully management, social media concerns, suicide prevention and protocols used in response to bullying. There is a modest fee for the children's portion of VBS to cover the cost of materials. Registration information can be found on the St. Martin's website at http://www.stmartinswmbg.org/vbs-registration.html.
