Farm Fresh® Donates $25,000 to Support Colonial Behavioral Health

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Farm Fresh Food & Pharmacy® has presented a $25,000 grant from the SUPERVALU Foundation to Colonial Behavioral Health (CBH) in support of the agency's mission, which CBH earmarked for services for military, veterans, and their dependents.

"Farm Fresh, along with the generosity of our customers, employees and vendor partners, has a proud history of supporting our servicemen and women and we were delighted to make this presentation," said Farm Fresh President Micky Nye. "CBH programming provides vital services for so many families in our communities, and helps us extend our support in new and meaningful ways."

Farm Fresh, which operates 41 supermarkets, five in CBH's service area, contributes to non-profit organizations whose primary missions address hunger relief, education, and support for the military. They also have a long-standing philanthropic relationship with Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

"Farm Fresh is one of the most respected and best-known businesses in our area, and we were both surprised and deeply honored that they, as part of the SUPERVALU Corporation, selected us to receive this donation," said CBH Executive Director David Coe. "Colonial Behavioral Health's services to our veterans, active duty military members, and their families will be greatly aided by this contribution."

Colonial Behavioral Health is currently the only community services board in the state with a dedicated military liaison and a military-friendly clinic that treats active duty, veterans, and their dependents as a priority population for services.

CBH's mission is to serve all individuals, but an increasing number of individuals with military connections seeking services prompted staff in March 2015 to focus on meeting the unique needs of the population. CBH internally designated its York-Poquoson Office as its military-friendly clinic due to the location's proximity to the area's military bases. The office's staff members have more than 65 combined years of active duty military, reserve, and Department of Defense service.
