Festival, historical portrayal at Yorkminster Church Sept. 17

Francis Makemie, the 17th century clergyman who was the founder of Presbyterianism in America, will be the "guest preacher" at Yorkminster Presbyterian Church's Sunday worship service, 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 17. Makemie will be portrayed by Anthony Burcher, a professional historical interpreter and storyteller. Following the service Yorkminster will hold its annual Fall Festival on the church grounds, with food, games, and a bounce house and water slide, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be information about upcoming small-group opportunities and Sunday School classes for all ages. Yorkminster Church is at 6218 George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17) in the Grafton area of York County. 757-898-4972.
