Flute Frenzy hosted a Summer Flute Camp

Flute Frenzy hosted a Summer Flute Camp August 1-5 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. 15 youth flutists from many area schools gathered each day for games, classes and rehearsals, including an Alexander workshop led by Joan Gavaler and Piccolo Pointers taught by Deby Kidney. The faculty were Flute Frenzy Artistic Director, Margaret Carlson, Olivia Stansbury, Sarah Keller, and Erin Morrow, with activities guided by "cruise director", Lana Young. The week included a Wednesday concert for the Innovative Senior Champions Program and Family Focus pre-school children, as well as a Friday final concert at the Gazebo in New Town. The middle-school, high-school, and combined flute choirs each played several pieces representing the week long musical "Summer Cruise."
Flute Frenzy offers flute ensemble opportunities for youth and adult flutists throughout the year. Registrations are now being taken for academic-year flute choir ensembles, including the Fantasia Flute Choir for adults, and 6-week flute choir programs for youth beginning flutists, middle-school flutists, and high-school flutists. Flute Frenzy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Need-based financial support is available. Find registration forms for each group and schedule details on the web site: www.flutefrenzy.org or call Artistic Director, Margaret Carlson, 757-253-0850.
