Ford's Colony Garden Club held their annual spring luncheon to close another beautiful year of programs. Club members were fortunate to hear from Callie Houghland who is pictured with her mom Laurie Houghland (L) and club member Tina Taverna (R). FCGC awarded Callie a Nature Camp scholarship when she was in 6th grade. She continued to attend camp every year until she entered UVA to study environmental science and urban and environmental planning. Callie spoke passionately about her Nature Camp experiences and how they have shaped her life guiding her career path and informing her activities as an environmental activist. Nature Camp, which is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is a private, non-profit, residential, co-ed summer camp specializing in natural history and environmental science education. If you are a student in grade 5-12 and are interested in applying for a scholarship to attend Nature Camp next summer, call 757-345-2870 for more information.
