Rachel Ordaz was the guest performer at the recent Virginia Symphony Society of Greater Williamsburg pre-concert dinner, held prior to the Virginia Symphony's October 12th concert at Phi Beta Kappa Hall. This is her sixth season performing with the Symphony as its sole piccolo artist. She also performs with its flute ensemble. In 2011 she graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. While at Carnegie Mellon, she performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City as the piccolo chair of the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, and she is a member of the prestigious Andrew Carnegie Society Scholars. She holds a Master of Music in Piccolo Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and in 2016 took 2nd place in a national flute/piccolo competition.
