Herbert Named First Team All-American, Warring All-Region

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Bridgewater College sophomore Christina Herbert has been named a WGCA first team All-American, with senior Marin Warring joining her on the All-Region squad.

Herbert earns her second All-American honor in two seasons at Bridgewater after being an honorable mention choice in 2014-15; this is also her second All-Region recognition. Warring was named to her first All-Region team in her final year as an Eagle.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association announced the 2015-16 student-athlete and coaches awards for Division III Women's Collegiate Golf at the WGCA Awards Banquet held in Houston, Texas. Both Herbert and Warring are in Houston for the NCAA Division III championships.

WGCA Awards Committee members review the tournament profiles of All-American/All-Region candidates; criteria used to evaluate each player are as follows: Head to Head Competition, Comparison with common opponents, Scoring average (adjusted), Place finishes in regular season events and tournament wins, Strength of schedule.

Herbert was the ODAC Golfer of the Year and ranked third in the nation in scoring average heading into the NCAA championships (75.0). She has placed in the top-three of all nine tournaments this season, including four medals.

The sophomore was a first team All-ODAC selections the last two years and an All-State honoree last season, in addition to her consecutive All-Region and All-American nods.

Warring ranks 24th in the nation in scoring average (77.7). She placed in the top-four in eight of nine tournaments in 2015-16 and was third at the ODAC championships.

Warring was one of the first two golfers on the team four years ago and has helped turn Bridgewater from a first-year program to an ODAC team champion and nationally-ranked squad in that time. She is a four-time All-Conference selection, including two first team honors.

Herbert was the only Old Dominion Athletic Conference player named to the All-American team. Four ODAC players made the All-Region team, with BC's two selections joined by Randolph-Macon's Olivia Bowling and Washington & Lee's Liza Freed.
