The HIMSS Board has announced Rene Cabral-Daniels is a new board member. Ms. Cabral-Daniels has served as the CEO of Community Care Network of Virginia, Inc. since 2013 and was formally the director of policy and planning at the Virginia Department of Health for seven years. She previously worked as an attorney for the Office of General Counsel at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the agency that accounts for enforcing the majority of Affordable Care Act regulations. Ms. Cabral-Daniels also served as a vice president for grant programs at the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation, the third largest health conversion foundation in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Cabral-Daniels has been recognized several times for her work and won various awards, including the William E. Cole Award for Outstanding Community Partner from Virginia Community Healthcare Association. "I am extremely excited and honored to be a part of the HIMSS Board and look forward to improving the future of healthcare. I hope to continue the outstanding success that HIMSS has achieved in the past and am optimistic about the future," said Cabral-Daniels.
Originally hailing from New Haven Connecticut, she has a bachelor's degree from Tufts University, a master's degree in public health from Yale School of Medicine, and a law degree from the University of Virginia.
