HISTORIAN MARTHA MCCARTNEY SPEAKS TO COLONIAL DAMES
Renowned historian, author, and independent scholar and chapter member Martha McCartney enlightened and entertained The Reverend James Blair chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century on the topic of her newest book, Matthews County Virginia: Lost Landscapes, Untold Stories, at the January 14 meeting held at Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg. The book was commissioned by the Matthews County Historical Society. Ms. McCartney has been employed by the Virginia Research Center for Archaeology, a Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Consultant, and project historian for the National Park Service's Jamestown Archaeological Assessment. She is author of nine books, numerous published articles and reports and has received six historic preservation awards. Colonial Dames XVII Century is a lineage organization whose members strive to aid in the preservation of records and historic sites and to commemorate the noble and heroic deeds of our American Ancestors.
