HOSPICE HOUSE GUILD PRESENTED "OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO SENIORS AWARD" BY WILLIAMSBURG LANDING
In honor of National Volunteer Week the Hospice House Guild Volunteers were honored with a first annual Outstanding Service to Seniors award, presented by the Williamsburg Landing. Hospice House Guild Volunteer President Bernice Todd accepted the award from Williamsburg Landing CEO and President Greg Storer on behalf of the 350 Hospice House Guild Volunteers. The presentation was made at the Community Foundation Grantee lunch at Fords Colony on April 19, 2017.
Audrey Smith, HHSCW Executive Director, stated that "The heart of any organization is its people and that is so true in the case of the volunteers at HHSCW." Smith stated that is gratifying to announce this award during National Volunteer Week. Our organization could not provide the wide and meaningful range of services without the support of these remarkable volunteers.
The Hospice House Guild Volunteers support families at their most vulnerable time, often around the clock, in their homes, in the Hospice House, and in the hospital. These volunteers work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Volunteers also support HHSCW by raising awareness and funds through their support of special events, maintaining the gardens and grounds, coordinating open houses, and providing front desk reception. The annual value of these volunteer services is more than $ 294,000.
Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg is a 501(c)(3) community supported social model hospice which provides 24 hour care for terminally ill individuals and their loved ones, when dying at home becomes unmanageable. The Hospice House itself is a spacious residence that is a "home away from home" for our guests and their families. Our support care services also include a vigil program, companionship in families' homes and extensive bereavement programs for families throughout our community. Families never receive a bill for any of our services, thanks to the generosity of our community.
