INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED VIOLINIST, ANNE AKIKO MEYERS TO GIVE A MASTERCLASS THIS WEEKEND AND PERFORM WITH THE WILLIAMSBURG SYMPHONIA ON OCTOBER 19TH AND 20TH.

Internationally known and acclaimed violinist, Anne Akiko Meyers will be offering a Masterclass for violinists today, Saturday, October 17, 2015. This class is sponsored by The Williamsburg Symphonia, a professional symphony orchestra based in Williamsburg.

From a large number of applicants, five violinists have been selected to participate in the Masterclass. They are: Grace Liu, a junior from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Mathew Wang, a junior from the college of William & Mary, Caleb Song a 7th grade student at Berkeley Middle School, Charles Todd, a junior at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, and Sage Wright, a student at James Madison University. Each student will play for Ms. Meyers and receive critique from her in an effort to enhance their abilities.

The Masterclass will be held in the Auditorium of the Kimball Theater, 424 W Duke of Gloucester St, beginning at 2:00. This special event is open and free to everyone but, please no small children who cannot remain quiet for at least an hour and a half.

The Masterclass should prove especially interesting to young violinists, their parents and musical friends, and to others studying or interested in music.

Anne Akiko Meyers regularly performs in recital and as guest soloist with many of the world's top orchestras, and is a best-selling recording artist who has released 32 albums. In 2014, Meyers was the top-selling traditional classical instrumental soloist on Billboard charts. Meyers will be performing Barber's Violin Concerto as a guest artist with The Williamsburg Symphonia on October 19th and 20th at the Kimball Theater. Janna Hymes, Music Director.
