Using a "Welch Allyn SPOT Vision Screener", club members screened 36 children with 2 referred for further examinations. In less than 30 seconds, and from a safe distance of 3 feet, the Welch Allyn device provides a vision assessment and identifies any nearsightedness, farsightedness, blurred vision, unequal refractive power, or eye misalignment. Seven JC Lions Club members worked a total of 20 hours conducting the screening. Pictured (l-r) are Lions John Zimbro, Phil Pryor (club president), Jim McBriarty, Joyce Wilson, Johanna Theloosen (project organizer), Boyd Chamberlain, and Jack Trotter.
