James City Lions hold "White Cane Days" fundraiser

Thirty-five Lion volunteers worked a total of 72 manhours recently soliciting donations during their semi-annual White Cane Days fundraiser. The white cane is symbolic of the Lions commitment to those in our community needing eye examinations and glasses. Pictured in front of Farm Fresh-Five Forks (l-r) is contributor Michael Griffith along with Lions Frank Hermes (White Cane Days organizer), Merv Frantz, Earl Kleiser and Jack Trotter (Fund Raising Committee Chairman). The JC Lions Club wishes to express sincere appreciation to Panera Bread-New Town, Farm Fresh-Five Forks and Toano, and the Hickory Neck Episcopal Church Fall Festival organizers as well as the numerous generous community contributors for supporting this fund-raiser.
