James City Lions maintain memorial garden at the county recreation center

Lions Peter Brusman, Warren Wright (project leader) and Margene Hartsough are shown after completing several hours work in maintaining the Lion Mike Allen Memorial Garden, which is located at the entrance to the James City County Recreation Center. This gardening project was initiated in 2002 by Lion Mike Allen, then chairman of the clubs' Community Action Committee. In early 2005, the garden was named after Lion Mike just before he passed away. He spearheaded efforts to regularly replant, de-weed and beautify this highly visible garden. Club members spend many hours annually working to ensure that the garden is well maintained. Visitors to the recreation center often have high praise for the beautiful garden as they walk by.
