JC Lions conduct vision screening at Stonehouse Elementary School

Using a "Welch Allyn SPOT Vision Screener", James City Lions Club members screened 42 children with only 3 referred for further examinations. In less than 30 seconds, and from a safe distance of 3 feet, the Welch Allyn device gives an assessment of a child's vision and identifies nearsightedness, farsightedness, blurred vision, unequal refractive power, and eye misalignment. Conducting the screening (l-r) were Lions Mike Carr, Johanna Theloosen, Jim McBriarty, Joyce Wilson and Don Butts (Project Leader).
