The Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital, with a primary focus of service to young children and youth, has awarded a 2017 grant to Avalon Center, working to end domestic and sexual violence in the region.
For more than ten years, Kiwanis Colonial Capital has generously provided critical support to the children in the care of Avalon. In the past year, Avalon has helped some 600 survivors, about half of whom are children. During the holidays, Kiwanis Colonial Capital members help brighten the season for the children at Avalon with donations of gifts.
Avalon Center also provides support to youth who have experienced trauma from violent crime; supervised court-ordered visitation and custody exchange; youth leadership; individual and group counseling; and outreach to youth in schools regarding safe and healthy relationships.
