Leafless Tree ID at New Quarter Park February 11

Join Dr. Stewart Ware, College of William and Mary professor emeritus, at New Quarter Park on Saturday, February 11, from 10 am to 12 noon, and find out how to identify trees when they don't have their leafy green clothes on. Take a closer look at clues in the details of tree bark, height and limbs, as well as in the surrounding leaf litter to solve their mystery. While walking through New Quarter Park's quiet forest next to Queen's Creek, participants will enjoy the subtle language of its unique assembly of old and majestic trees surrounded by native Virginia understory plants, trees and saplings.

New Quarter Park is located at 1000 Lakeshead Drive near the Queen's Lake neighborhood. For more information or directions, visit www.yorkcounty.gov/ParksandRec or call York County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (weekdays) 0at 757-890-3500 or New Quarter Park (weekends) at 757-890-5840.
