On Friday, February 26th, parishioners of Saint Bede Catholic Church gathered together at First Baptist Church to ring the historic Freedom Bell.
First Baptist Church was founded in 1776 by a group of slaves. Sadly, the bell stopped ringing in the 1950s and was silent throughout the years of the Civil Rights movement. This year, the bell was restored and First Baptist Church extended an invitation to the community to join them in ringing the historic bell as a sign of freedom and unity. In Christian unity with our Baptist brothers and sisters, parishioners of Saint Bede came to ring the historic bell. Thank you to all who participated. Let freedom ring!
