Lions conduct vision screening at Matthew Whaley Elementary School

James City Lions Club members recently conducted vision screening of 151 pre-school, kindergarten and third grade students at the school. Eleven were referred for further evaluation. The students were screened using a "Welch Allyn SPOT Vision Screener". The SPOT Vision Screener is a handheld, portable device that can detect focusing issues and provide an assessment of the following vision problems: nearsightedness, farsightedness, blurred vision, unequal refractive power, and eye misalignment. During October, the James City Lions and Williamsburg Host Lions Clubs will screen all incoming pre-school, kindergarten and third grade students at the nine Williamsburg-James City County (WJCC) Elementary Schools.
