Lions District 24D District Governor Tucker Casanova made his annual visit to the Williamsburg Host Lions Club Dinner Meeting, held at the Holiday Inn (on By-Pass Road). In his address he focused on those things that he will be emphasizing during his tenure at the District's Governor, among these were obtaining greater public awareness of the work that the men and women of Lions do in their community many of the citizens do not truly understand all the work that we as Lions do.
One project that comes to mind is the SPOT screening that the two Williamsburg Lions Clubs have been conducting in all the Williamsburg Public Schools since the beginning of the school year. The testing to-date has tested approximately 1,125 students and has made referrals for 118 students. These two clubs when finished will have tested 1,400 five and six-year-old children for sight issues. Referrals on these students will be sent home to their parents letting them know that their child may have difficulty seeing the blackboard, early enough in their academic programs to make a real difference.
