Local Blood Donor Makes 150th Donation

Charles Raphael, Williamsburg resident, completed his150th Red Cross blood donation on February 4 when he gave platelets at the Norfolk Red Cross Donor Center. His goal is to reach 200.

"There is such an overwhelmiing need for blood donations in our greater community--both whole blood and platelets, said Mr. Raphael My prayer is that my150 donations and commitment to donating on a regular basis will inspire and motivate others to do the same. I especially hope to raise awareness among both those who only donate occasionally and among the younger generation who could start on a path of lifetime giving. The need is so great and the good a donation does for patients is immeasurable. The time commitment is minimal--and the reward great."
