Local Students Graduate from Hampden-Sydney College

Students with local ties to the community were among the 236 men who graduated on Sunday, May 8, at commencement exercises marking the end of the 241st academic year at Hampden-Sydney College.

Theodore Owen West graduated with a BA in English. He is the son of philosophy & Jenny West of Lanexa, VA.

James Hunter Morris graduated with a BA in history. He is the son of Mr. Daniel R. Morris of Williamsburg, VA.

Kyle Broaddus Grierson graduated with a BS in biology. He is the son of Kevin W. Grierson and Judith G. Williams of Williamsburg, VA.

John Tyler Daspit graduated with a BS in physics. He is the son of Nikki Mercer Reinhart and John Daspit of Williamsburg, VA.

Alan Mitchel Owens graduated with a BS in chemistry. He is the son of Kim & Bruce Owens of Williamsburg, VA.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
