Local Young Men Win Mid-Atlantic Tennis Championship

Five (5) students from Jamestown High School, who train year round under Brent Hughes' Elite 10s Academy, won the Mid-Atlantic Junior Team Tennis Sectional Championship held at Old Dominion University's Folkes Stevens Tennis Center last weekend! Members of the J-Eagles team include (l to r): Lehman Montgomery, Albon Yowell (team captain), Daniel Kruger, Grayson Deberry, and Brad Mahaffey.

To qualify for the sectional tournament, the J-Eages team competed and won last summer, against other 18 & under boys teams from the Hampton Roads region. Champions of each Mid-Atlantic Region advanced to compete in the sectional tournament January 9-10, 2016, where the J-Eagles prevailed over teams from Baltimore, Northern Virginia, and Virginia Beach. The finals, against Princess Anne Country Club's Virginia Beach team, demonstrated excellent tennis from both sides of the court!

Jamestown High School's tennis coach, Bob Artis, and his team are psyched for the upcoming season with their eyes set on the VHSL State tournament in June!
