Lois Hornsby Middle School wins top honors at the 2015 Virginia Theatre Association Middle School Theatre Festival

Competing for the first time, the Lois Hornsby Middle School Theatre Department won both Gold Star and Top Three honors at the Middle School Theatre Festival held during the 2015 Virginia Theatre Association Conference in Norfolk. Directed by Christina Marshburn, Hornsby Middle School Theatre teacher, the students performed "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", a one act play. Several students were also honored with acting awards. Gio Ceriani won Best Actor honors, while Bridgett Palermo, Jacob Oman and Kylie Fowler were named to the VTA Middle School Theatre Festival All Star Cast.

The Virginia Theatre Association (VTA) is the largest state theatre association in the country and is the central resource for connecting, creating, cultivating and advocating for practitioners of theatre in the Commonwealth. Held annually, the VTA Conference features the Middle School Theatre Festival. This year, 20 middle schools sent students to Norfolk, to perform, compete, learn and network.
