The Williamsburg Symphonia League's Encore Affair #5--"Muscarelle Magic Redux", a festive party at the College of William and Mary's world-class museum--is planned for Friday, March 11. The Encore Affairs series of fundraising events, begun in 2007, benefit Williamsburg's own orchestra and its community educational programs. Art and music lovers will enjoy a delightful evening featuring wine, a delicious catered dinner and docent-led tours of the current exciting Muscarelle Museum exhibits: "Norman Rockwell and the Boy Scouts", "Hiroshige's 53 Stations of the Tokaido" and "Light Works: A Century of Great Photography".
Encore Affairs Co-Chair Patti Grogg and Williamsburg Symphonia League President Cindy Southworth and Muscarelle Museum Director Aaron DeGroft stand before Norman Rockwell's 1930 inspirational painting "A Scout is Loyal", a dramatic illustration that shows sunlight bathing a contemplative Boy Scout while a ghostlike image of General George Washington and soaring bald eagle appear in the cloud-shrouded background.
A limited number of tickets at $110 ($55 tax deductible) are still available for the March 11 Encore Affair by contacting Doug Wood and Janis Wood at 757-220-2217.
