Local author and journalist Margaret Edds is coming to Heritage Public Library to give a presentation on the legal challenges to racial separation in the 1940s and 1950s. Edds is the author of the recently published "We Face the Dawn: Oliver Hill, Spottswood Robinson, and the Legal Team That Dismantled Jim Crow." Her book focuses on Virginians Oliver Hill and Spottswood Robinson who were lawyers who initiated and argued one of the five cases that combined into the landmark Brown v. Board of Education.
Heritage Public Library Director Chandra McPherson said "We are proud to have such a distinguished writer coming to speak to the community. This book and talk focus on important local events that were pivotal in the history of Virginia and of America."
