Martha McCartney donates to Local Authors Project at Williamsburg Regional Library

Local author Martha W. McCartney donates a copy of her book "Powhatan Indian Place Names in Tidewater Virginia" to the Williamsburg Regional Library. Accepting the donation is Library Development Officer Benjamin Goldberg. Co-authored with Helen Rountree and based on many years of research, the volume will help any person doing research in eastern Virginia's historical records relate Powhatan Indian place names to the modern landscape. Martha McCartney also is the author of highly regarded books on America's first colony, Jamestown, as well as other Virginia books. She specializes in 17th-century Virginia history and ethnohistory and is the recipient of the prestigious Daughters of the American Revolution's National History Award.
