Join us for a passionate performance of the "Four Serious Songs" by Brahms sung by bass-baritone Darren K. Stokes accompanied by Michael Steven Lianos. This song-set based on Scripture from Ecclesiastes is normally performed on the piano, but will be performed with an organ accompaniment to create an orchestral backdrop to support Stokes's powerful voice. Mr. Stokes also will perform the fiery aria from Mendelssohn's Elijah: "Is Not His Word Like a Fire?". There also will be organ selections by both Brahms and Mendelssohn as well as stories - a fun history lesson - about these composers and the works that will performed today. The FREE concert will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, 1:00 p.m., at Saint Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road in Williamsburg. For more information, please call (757) 229-3631, or visit www.bedeva.org/concerts.
