Meet Shannon Woloszynowski, Executive Director of Williamsburg House of Mercy

Shannon recently spoke to the James City County Rotary Club, telling the story of how she rose from Fairfax County police detective to her present position as champion for the needy and homeless in our community. She has brought into being the following projects: A day center for the homeless, a rapid rehousing center for the homeless, a pregnancy and baby care center for low income families, and a family center, set to open in January of 2017. The House of Mercy is a part of the Outreach Mission of St. Bede Catholic Church.

Her experiences on the street as police detective developed in her a passion for the homeless and the issues they faced. These experiences gave her the necessary skills to build community partnerships and collaborations, and the ability to establish a rapport and dialogue with the homeless of our community.

She has a BA from George Washington University and a MA in Moral Theology/Bioethics from Christendom College. She also serves as the Board Chair of St. Bede's Greater Williamsburg Outreach Mission.

She can be reached at 757-229-3700, extension 2210
