Megan and friends show support for her sister, Megan on October 17th!

My name is Megan (pictured left) and that's my twin sister Julie (pictured right). This picture was taken on the night of her wedding rehearsal just this past April. We could have never imagined how things would change in 6 short months. Julie was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer on August 13th 2015 at the age of 35. I started Team OJ: Fight like a Pirate as a place where Julie's large support system could come together and show a united front of support. We are OVER 75 participants strong and growing!!!!

Beyond Boobs! is a great local organization that reached out to Julie in the early days of her diagnosis and we are excited to support BB! all the while supporting Julie. We are using the Run for the Hills on October 17th at Sanford B. Wanner stadium as our "Julie is Kicking Butt Pep Rally." There's a one mile fun fun, a 5K, or a 10K to run or walk in. We are thrilled that it's a place where not only adults who want to show their support can participate but also Julie's younger nieces and nephews get their chance to show their support as well. It truly is going to be a family event with a Fall festival, face painting, pumpkin patch, a dunking booth and so much more! What's the Pirate reference you ask? Julie (known in our family as OJ - the Original Julie) is a 2002 graduate of East Carolina University and a 4 year letter winner on the ECU swim team. ECU Pirate athletics is a passion of Julies and it was an easy choice to incorporate that theme into our team. On the 17th we'll be the ones decked out in our purple (and pink) pirate shirts and undoubtedly having a great time being together! We'll see you there!

Run for the Hills is presented by TowneBank and registration can done at
