This past summer, members of the Walnut Hills Baptist Church located on Jamestown Road and the New Zion Baptist Church located on Longhill Road, joined over 200 other Virginia Baptists in a ministry initiative to the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North/South Dakota. While there, the group prepared lunch, dinner and led Vacation Bible Schools at 9 reservation communities, handed out over 1500 pairs of children/youth shoes, socks and underwear and toiletery kits and did a variety of medical checks for adults. The members also took, framed and presented to the subjects, over 400 pictures of families and groups on the reservation and provided a small carnival (bounce house, bean toss, face painting, etc.) to each of the nine communities.
The group will be sharing their experiences on Wednesday, October 7th at 6:30pm in the Hospitality Center of Walnut Hills.
