Mt. Vernon UMC Honors the Veterans at James City Chapel Cemetery
Flags fly over graves of 29 veterans buried in the James City Chapel Cemetery in Toano, to honor them for their service in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. James City Chapel Cemetery dates to 1843 and is operated as a ministry of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Toano. Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church is having a special worship service on Sunday, November 8th at 10:15 a.m. in honor of veterans and their families who served and are serving our country. Lt. Colonel Cody Grundy, U.S. Army Retired, is the guest speaker and will present the Sunday morning message. From father to grandson, the Grundy's have served 7 decades in the U.S. Army. Mt. Vernon UMC is located at 7801 Church Lane in Toano.
