Members of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Toano held a Veterans Day "Gathering" at its James City Chapel Cemetery in Norge on Tuesday, November 8. The gathering was to honor and remember military veterans who have served, to honor military veterans who are serving today, and to honor the 29 military veterans buried in the cemetery by placing American flags on their graves. The program was opened with a prayer by Pastor Ann Tang, Mount Vernon UMC, and Chaplain, Major, U.S. Army Reserves. Comments on behalf of military veterans were made by a church member, Lt. Col. Cody Grundy, U.S. Army (Retired). The flags were placed on the graves by those who "gathered".
