Smith Memorial Baptist Church will hold Easter services on April 5th at 9:00am and 11:00am in the main auditorium at 6515 Richmond Road. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
One year ago at this same time, the church welcomed their new Pastor, Dr. Dave Reid. He and his family came to Williamsburg from the Central Virginia area. Dr. Reid is originally from Delaware and completed his undergraduate degree at Cedarville University in Ohio, two Master's degrees from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree, which he completed in May of 2014 from Liberty. Previously, he served with Campus Crusade for Christ's "Athletes in Action," and as Campus Director at Auburn University.
Dr. Reid has sparked a renewed mission of the church in "multiplying disciples with the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ" and has challenged the members and guests with a vision to "reach and impact 200,000 by the year 2020." To accomplish this goal, Dr. Reid and his staff at Smith Memorial Baptist Church are encouraged to work together across denominational lines for the good of the community in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of the ways to do this was to be a host church with the Community of Faith Mission in providing shelter for the homeless over the winter months. Community of Faith Mission is a partnership of over 15 churches in the greater Williamsburg area. Ongoing programs include: weekly Wednesday night activities from 6p-8p for AWANA (K-6th graders), Christianity 101 for Youth, and Prayer & Share for adults. The Youth also participate in showing their "Faith in Action" on Sunday evenings. For other opportunities for adults to gather and fellowship with prayer and devotions as well as activities, consult the website for times and location.
Coming up on March 28th, is the children's Annual Resurrection Egg Hunt held on the campus beginning in the Family Life Center at 10am - 12pm. All are welcome.
