Our Saviour's Lutheran Church is preparing for its 3rd Annual Oktoberfest, Saturday, October 10.
The event has been an enormous success in bringing in funds to build a Community Kitchen, which will expand the church's ministries to area seniors, homebound, homeless, and low-income WJCC students, as well as community groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Scouting groups.
The church is currently two-thirds of the way towards its fundraising goal of $90,000. Each year the event organizers, led by Rev. James P. Nickols, present silent and live auctions (supplied by generous donations from artists, businesses, and individuals), wine-tasting, beer tent with live music (area band Schnickelfritz and the Oompahs), face painting (Picasso Face and Body Art), and award-winning authentic German menu (Custom Culinary Connections of Lanexa).
Guests may purchase reservations for the entire event, which is scheduled from 1:00-7:00 p.m., or for sections of the event (wine-tasting and auctions: 1:00-3:30 p.m.; beer tent with live music: 3:30-7:00 p.m.).
This is a reservation-only event and guests are encouraged to visit the church web site, www.oslcnorge.org, to make reservations or donations to this cause.
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church is located at 7479 Richmond Road, Williamsburg. For more information call the church office, 757.564.3745.
