Oktoberfest is coming

On Saturday, Oct 14, from 1:00-7:00 p.m., Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Norge will welcome the community for its 5th annual Oktoberfest. This event, begun in 2012, was spearheaded by Rev. James Nickols, and has become a much anticipated event in Upper James City County. The event is sponsored by individuals and businesses from across the region.

Proceeds will benefit the Senior Champions Program, a free respite day care for dementia and Alzheimer's patients. The day care is sponsored by the Colonial Heritage Community Foundation and participating churches include Our Saviour's and New Zion Baptist Church in Williamsburg.

The Oktoberfest opens at 1:00 p.m. with silent and live auctions, wine tasting, and gourmet hor d'oeuvres. At 3:30 pm the Biergarten tent is open with German buffet and entertainment (beginning at 4:00 p.m.): face painting by Picasso Face & Body Art, and new this year, The Happy Dutchmen Band with Hirschjaeger Folk Dancers from Richmond. Authentic German foods for the entire day are provided by Custom Culinary Connections of Lanexa. This is a reservation-only event. Reservations are available now through Our Saviour's web site: www.oslcnorge.org, or call the church office, 757.564.3745.
