Nearly 200 attended "A Free Evening of Beautiful Singing" at the Williamsburg Art Gallery to celebrate the donation of a Yamaha Digital Piano to Opera in Williamsburg (OiW) by the E. K. Sloane Fund of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation. Two superb opera singers, baritone Suchan Kim and soprano Kinneret Ely, who braved snow-snarled transportation from New York for the event, provided a fantastic two segment performance for the very appreciative crowd. Alyssa Melchers from William and Mary filled in brilliantly on the piano since the original pianist scheduled could not make it because of the weather. The wine and hors d'oeuvres reception was also to announce the upcoming performance at the Kimball by Opera in Williamsburg of Rossini's La Cenerentola (Cinderella) on April 8th and 10th, with an introductory fundraising dinner at Colonial Heritage on April 3rd.
