Palmer is Homecoming speaker; Evans will serve as revivalist

The annual Homecoming Service at St. John Baptist Church takes place Sunday, Aug. 27, beginning at 11 a.m. Guest minister will be Army Chaplain Col. James Palmer Jr. He is an ordained Baptist minister, and currently serves as command chaplain at the Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Eustis. Musical selections will be provided by the Homecoming Alumni Choir, consisting of former St. John Youth Choir members. The choir will be directed by Linda Lee. Dinner on the Grounds will be served afterward. Revival services will be held Monday, Aug. 28-Thursday, Aug.31, with the Rev. Peter A. Evans preaching. He is pastor of Colossian Baptist Church-Newport News. He currently serves as first vice moderator of the Tidewater Peninsula Baptist Association. Revival service will begin each night with Prayer & Praise at 7, then revival at 7:30. St. John is at 1397 Penniman Rd., where everyone is welcome.
