Gloucester, VA (October 12, 2016) - Despite last weekends' storm and some minor damage at the farm, Green Hand Farm Park's fall season is going strong - offering an exciting mix of fall activities and events for families and groups in the Middle Peninsula-Hampton Roads region.
Since the end of September, giant Pokémon characters made out of hay bales have greeted visitors and those passing by the farm on George Washington Memorial Parkway. Every year, Green Hand Farm Park commissions the Guinn Family of Yardigans, All Occasion Yard Art Rentals to create themed hay bale art (past years have featured giant Minions and Alice in Wonderland) and thousands look forward to seeing these. Unfortunately, strong winds knocked over and damaged the giant characters - but that is not stopping the Farm Park from forging ahead. This Friday night, Pokémon fans are invited to the Farm Park for a Pokémon Party and to search for Pokémon characters. The Farm Park is a certified PokéStop and staff will also be hosting a lure party. All who come dressed as a Pokémon character will receive 50% off admission. Green Hand Farm Park owner, David Hand, is doing all he can to salvage the hay bales, with plans for a scaled-down version that should be in place by Friday.
In addition to welcoming Pokémon fans, this year is also a special year for Peanuts fans who visit the Farm Park. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of one of the most beloved, quotable, and unforgettable Peanuts television specials of all time, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," Peanuts Worldwide and Green Hand Farm Park have prepared a once-in-a-lifetime celebration: the creation of a custom-designed corn maze featuring the Peanuts theme for guests to explore! Green Hand Farm Park was chosen as one of 90 farms by Peanuts Worldwide to celebrate this special event. The Farm Park is also hosting outdoor showings of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" every Friday and Saturday night (weather permitting) and has some Peanuts photos ops for visitors to the farm. And, of course, visitors can take a hayride to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out their own great pumpkin!

About Green Hand Farm Park - Green Hand Farm Park is owned and operated by David and Patricia Hand. The farm began as a Farm Stand and full-service Garden Center in 1995. The Hands grew plants and produce for their three Garden Center locations and for wholesale distribution. In 2010, the Hands changed their focus to agritourism - to provide family-friendly entertainment for visitors to their farm. They dedicated a section of their farm to a corn maze, pumpkin patch, and other traditional fall activities. Over the last several years, popularity of the Farm Park has grown with loyal customers returning each year to enjoy old and new attractions. The Farm Park is also a favorite destination for school field trips, parties, weddings, corporate events, reunions, church groups, college groups, and other private events. The farm is a convenient drive from Newport News, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Richmond.
