Rev. Bill Cashman Celebrates 32 Years At York River Baptist

The first Sunday of 1983 Rev. Bill Cashman and his wife Barbara and their three children began their ministry at York River Baptist Church. York River is located at 8201 Croaker Road in upper James City County just off of I-64, exit 231 - B.

Since arriving as Pastor the congregation has purchased 2 acres of land and they have had multiple building projects including the current Worship Center and Education building. The membership has sacrificially given and the church is debt free.

Over the 32 years York River has had a variety of ministries including a radio ministry; a Crisis Pregnancy ministry; a ministry to the Deaf; an annual Totally Free Yard Sale where thousands of dollars in goods and clothes are given away for "free". Each Thanksgiving the membership sponsors families who need a helping hand with a food basket. This year 54 local families received a basket of food and a turkey or ham.

Home and International Missions have been a major part of the ministry of York River. Over $840,000 dollars have been given to a variety of mission causes. Members of the church have participated in 12 International Mission Trips; 20 Home Mission Trips; and have started two churches; one in Newport News and one in Tanzania, East Africa.

Many people have been touched by the ministry of York River. They have baptized 763 persons and had 651 join their fellowship from other churches. To add to the total impact on the community Pastor Bill has married 231 couples during his tenure as Pastor. God has blessed and all we can say is To God Be The Glory.

York River Baptist Church offers Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and Worship at 10:45. We offer GodzKidz for children preschool through 5th grade during the Worship Service.
