Several years ago, Jason Goins began having repeated dreams about building a 12- foot tall cross. Jason is a life-long resident of Williamsburg; a devoted son, husband and father; and a William and Mary graduate with a degree in religious studies. He is an admirable and responsible young man, not usually given to visions. These dreams were compelling, however, and very specific in the dimensions of the cross and the tent awning that should cover it. Jason had the necessary skills-he is a gifted carpenter-but he didn't have the furniture-grade heart-pine wood needed for the design. One day, however, a warehouse manager at Nicewood Enterprises mentioned that the company was trying to repurpose wood from a canceled order, and it turned out to be just the wood Jason needed. A few months later, he was offered vinyl tent awning material free of charge from Williamsburg Event Rentals, also by someone who was cleaning out a warehouse. Working nights and weekends in 2013 and 2014, Jason began building the cross and constructing the support posts for the covering tent. Church friends at New Town United Methodist Church prayed with him, encouraged him, and made banners for the cross and the tent. Finally in 2015, Jason took the completed cross and tent to a revival conference in Georgia, where the impact was so powerful that Jason and wife Karen have now been asked to travel throughout the United States with Rick Bonfim Ministries.

On October 28 and 29 (at 7 PM) and 30 (at 10 AM), Jason Goins and the cross will be at New Town United Methodist Church, 5209 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg, during several days of revival services led by evangelist Rick Bonfim. All are invited to worship with us and have a time of prayer at this very special cross built, we believe, in accordance with a design provided directly by the Holy Spirit.
