Rotary club of Williamsburg member Tom Morris invited Frank McGuirk to a recent club dinner meeting to describe his experience as a crew aboard the Godspeed, a replica of one of the 17th century ships that brought the first English settlers to the New World, and other tall ships that he crewed over the years. McGuirk's presentation on "Sailing on Tall Ships," with stunning photographs he took in his retirement after four decades working for an automotive components manufacturing company. McGuirk pursued an active retirement as a volunteer sailor. His presentation spoke about his experiences aboard the Godspeed in its voyage in 2006 that brought the newly constructed Godspeed from Rockport, Maine, to Jamestown. Later, in 2013, he had an opportunity to sail for a week on the U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle from New London, Connecticut, to Portsmouth, Virginia.
