She comes to us with a long line of employment in the Emergency Management field, and has achieved certification from such groups as the International Association of Emergency Managers as a certified Flood Plain Manager, as past president of the Virginia Emergency Management Association, and as board member of FEMA's Region 3 Advisory Council. She has been active in the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, and served as chair of multiple state and regional emergency management committees and subcommittees.
Currently, she is working on updating James City County's sheltering plans and creating an emergency management training program for county staff. She is well qualified to coordinate the county's rapid response teams, such as CERT, and we can all feel comfort in knowing that she has planned ahead, should the need arise.
