SCLC HONORS THE YORK-POQUOSON SHERIFF DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Virginia State Unit of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), the Peninsula District Chapter of the SCLC and York County Board of Supervisors Member Chad Green in partnership with Greg Garrett Realty representing the business community honored Sheriff J. D. Diggs and the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office for their dedication and service to humanity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 during the York County Board of Supervisors Meeting.

Sheriff Danny Diggs and members of the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office have made it their priority and demonstrated their commitment of striving for transparency and to ensuring that all citizens are treated with the utmost respect, fairness, and courtesy.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office has worked collaboratively with the Virginia State Unit of the SCLC and the Peninsula District Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and has served with exemplary leadership by providing public safety to the citizens of York County and in the City of Poquoson.

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) is committed to non-violent action to achieve social, economic, and political justice. Believing in the oneness of human family and efficacy of love in human relations, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference holds that authentic love demands justice as a moral imperative. The SCLC, a non-sectarian, interfaith, advocacy movement, was founded and organized in 1957 by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
