St. John celebrates 131st anniversary

Saint John Baptist Church will celebrate its 131st anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 25. Guest preacher for the 11 a.m. service is the Rev. Dr. Thomas Shields, with music by the Gospel Chorus. Dinner will be served afterward. At 3:30 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Rex Ellis, pastor of Cary's Baptist Church, will deliver the message. He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers and congregation. Between both services, the Church History Ministry will give a slide presentation, and the Temples of Praise dance ministry will lead worship. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m. The lesson is "Trusting the Spirit," from Acts 11:1-18. Saint John is at 1397 Penniman Rd.
